About Us

History

DeLSol Association, Inc. is a multi-service nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019. Our organization was established by a group of experienced nonprofit professionals who have a combination of over 50 years of experience assisting individuals with developmental disabilities, chronic mental health needs, and youth intervention services. Our services are designed to support people enough that they enjoy life on their terms.

This community-based service assists people with developmental disabilities on a 1:3 ratio by fostering an individual's abilities to acquire, retain or improve skills necessary to build positive social behavior, interpersonal competence, greater independence, employability, and personal choices necessary to access typical activities and functions of community life such as those chosen by the general population.

This community-based service assists people with developmental disabilities on a 1:1 ratio by temporarily assisting with building a specific skill or set of skills to address particular barriers that prevent individuals from participating in activities of community engagement. In addition to skill building, this service includes routine and safety supports.

 This community-based service provides intensive supports by trained and, where applicable, licensed staff in crisis stabilization for an individual who is experiencing an episodic behavioral or psychiatric event in the community that has the potential to jeopardize the current community living situation. To qualify for this service a person must be in the DD waiver, and recently discharged from the hospital or incarcerated.

We currently offer Day Support and Crisis Stabilization services to Virginia residents with developmental disabilities.  Participants must be enrolled in the HCBS waiver prior to intake for consideration. However, we assist those not enrolled in the waiver get in contact with their local Community Services Board to get started.

Developmental Disabilities

Support includes community-based crisis supports, and free service navigation education of potential services. We also provide linkage and referrals to outpatient Christian Clinicians, Mental Health Skill Builders for adults, Intensive In-Home Counselors for children, Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) and other Evidence-Based Practice Clinicians.

In July 2021, we launched our FREE in-person youth mentorship program for grades 6-12 all around Hampton Roads! This program is a safe space for youth of all backgrounds to express any challenges they may be facing in today's world.

Crisis Supports QMHPs (Hampton Roads & Peninsula Region)

 We are hiring Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) to provide crisis support services within our community-based program at DeLSol Association, Inc.. This role involves working directly with individuals and families in their homes and communities to help temporarily stabilize crises, build coping skills, and strengthen overall functioning. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a human services–related field and meet state QMHP eligibility requirements. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and comfort in community settings are essential. A flexible schedule, including some evenings or Saturdays, is required based on client needs. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply for this hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful clinical experience while making a difference. Salary is based upon education and experience. Seeking patient, creative individuals who are eager to learn and train to become leaders. High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or MH required. Associate's degree in related field preferred. Ability to write daily progress notes in accordance with the individualized service plan (ISP). Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Must have own reliable, insured vehicle. Must pass state and federal background check. This position requires a high level of autonomy and comfortability building relationships with the person supported, their families, and external supporters.   $17-$20/Hr. Volunteer Youth Mentors (Hampton)

Must be at least 18 years or older. Must have the heart, passion, desire, diverse understanding, and dependability to empower the youth while dedicating up to 2 hours per session. Knowledge of local resources. Must be willing to showcase any special talents or relative skills to motivate the youth in pulling out their own natural gifts.
